“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.”

Dean Smith

You shouldn’t do stuff just to get something in return. If you really want to help out and do what’s right for someone then it should come through your own will and from your heart. The feeling of helping out or choosing the right is better than any prize.  A good example would be when your mom asks you to take care of your little siblings or to take out the trash, you should do it because you want to and not because she’s forcing you to do it. Dean Smith is an good hearted man that did what he had to do because it was right and people really appreciated, he never asked for anything he just did his job.

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Aristotle

This statement means that you always have to learn through the mind then somehow feel it through the heart. In many times the heart tells you or helps you feel what is right and what is wrong. That’s why they always tell you to listen to your heart. I think that learning how to listen to and understand your heart is the greatest gift ever because it’s real powerful. Anybody can make you learn something through your mind or make you believe it’s true, however only you can understand what’s going on in your heart.

Robert E. Lee

What I think this quote is trying to say is that we should always do right even when it seems like the wrong thing to do or it hurts us to do it. There is always rights that seem bad or wrong but it’s always for the better of ourselves or somebody else’s. A good example would be taking a child from an abusive family. It’s wrong to take the kid from his or her parents but its right because the kid will no longer have to suffer. At the end of the day no matter where or how good always manages to win and always be the best choice for anyone and without a doubt it makes you feel good as a person.

“Tell me what is right and I will fight for it.”
Woodrow Wilson

No matter where you are you should always do right even when it doesn’t seem like the coolest thing to do. People will always tell you that that’s not cool or that all the cool kids are doing it. The best example would have to be using drugs. It becomes this trend that everyone wants to follow and you shouldn’t be part of it you should step aside and do what’s right even if it makes you lose friends. Just remember a real friend does not want you to do things that are life threating.

“The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.”

Margaret Chase Smith

When your friends or even your family are doing the wrong things you choose the right. Never follow the crowd just to be cool or feel cool because you’re just being dumb. My Experiences So Far At HPIAM

My experiences here at HPIAM have been the best. I have met new people and seen many faces that I have never seen in my life. I have also met friends as well as lost friends but that’s just life and part of growing up. I don’t regret coming to this school from HP because this school is new and better, in my opinion. What I also like is that everybody at this school practically knows each other because most of us came from the same place. For the people that didn’t come from where we came from we have gotten to know each other. The teachers here are great to us. They all want us to succeed and that’s what a student needs. Our school principal is the best because he also cares about us. Nobody does his job better than him that’s why everybody likes him as the principal. This is my last school year here at HPIAM and all that’s left is too make it the best one with all my classmates. This year the school is more organized since it’s the second year and I guess everybody saw their mistakes from the first year. I know I’ll miss it here and all my memories that I made with everyone but hey lets enjoy it while we’re here.

Government Shutdown

http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/30/politics/government-shutdown-up-to-speed/index.html

The government shutdown, in my opinion is unnecessary and should have never started because it’s just affecting our nation. They should all just come to an agreement on what to continue to fund and what not to and go on with their regular jobs and routine. Obamacare, I believe, is also a problem but In my opinion it think it is a good thing and it would help out a lot of people.

“There is no justification ever for choosing any part of what you know to be evil.”

Ayn Rand

Reflection: What I think this quote means is that you should never justify choosing the wrong. Whenever you choose bad stuff or choose to do bad stuff then that’s your own fault. Nobody forces you to do anything. Sure there’s peer pressure but then again if your so called friend is pushing you to do something then you shouldn’t even consider him a friend. Do whatever you feel is right but if you choose to do wrong then don’t hold anybody accountable for your mistakes.

The Sting of the Scorpion

This video shows you how your parents are always right. What they tell you to do is only good for you and they just want you to be safe and stay out of trouble. Listening to your parents is choosing the right and it should always be done by everyone. No matter how bad you don’t want to do what they tell you just remember the consequences can be life threating to you and/or to others.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”

Theodore Roosevelt

Whenever you have to choices always do the one that is right. A good example would be when you have homework and you are trying to decide whether to do it or not because you have plans with your friends. You should choose to do your homework because that is more important than going out. You must always choose to do your school work first than anything because that is what is going to help you to have a better future and to have a better lifestyle later on.
