Health Information Specialist
Duties and
Responsibilities: A health information specialist analyzes all
data that has to do with the hospital and finance wise. They provided this
information so that the practitioners know how to care and what to provide for
the patients. There are three different parts to the health information
specialist and they are the coding specialist, record technicians, and record administrators.
Salary: $20,000
- $25,000 (Coding Specialists) $23,000 - $30,000 (Record
Technicians)
$30,000 - $40,000 (Record Administrators)
Education: to
become a coding specialist you must have a high school diploma or GED. Training
is usually done on the job but there are classes offered at technical school
and community colleges and you must pass an examination. Record technicians
must earn an associate’s degree and as well pass an exam. A record
administrator must complete a bachelor’s degree program in the field and pass
an exam.
