Western Medicine Doctor

Duties and Responsibilities: In clinical practice, doctors personally assess patients in order to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease using clinical judgment. The doctor-patient relationship typically begins an interaction with an examination of the patient's medical history and medical record, followed by a medical interview and a physical examination. Basic diagnostic medical devices take a biopsy, or prescribe pharmaceutical drugs or other therapies.

Salary: 200,000-400,000

Education: Medical education and training varies around the world. It typically involves entry level education at a university medical school, followed by a period of supervised practice or internship, and/or residency. This can be followed by postgraduate vocational training. A variety of teaching methods have been employed in medical education, still itself a focus of active research. In Canada and the United States of America, a Doctor of Medicine degree, often abbreviated M.D. or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, often abbreviated as D.O. and unique to the United States, must be completed in a recognized university.

 


Reflection: I don’t think I would like to have this career because it doesn’t seem to interest me.

Military Medical Careers
 
Duties and Responsibilities: Having a medical career within the army has many parts to it. You have a variety to choose from. You can be anything from a nurse to a dentist and to a physician. Their jobs require them to care for the other soldiers and make sure they're good and ready to go. 
 
Salary: $50,000-$100,000
 
 
Education: The training that you get within the army is enough and that would have you on the path to having a medical career within the military.
 
 
 
Reflection: If I were to ever join the armed forces this is something that I would keep in mind.

This is true because everybody should know that nothing in life is better than having a healthy life. If you’re not healthy and just have problems then you won’t be happy, you can have all the money in the world but what’s the point if you’re sick and cannot enjoy it. Or what’s the point of having a nice fast sports car if you won’t be able to drive it? Having a free from problem life is all we should ask for.

Acupuncture

Duties and Responsibilities: A career in acupuncture involves inserting needled into certain points of a person’s body. By doing this they help patients deal with their illnesses or chronic diseases.

Salary: $37,000-$161,000

Education: Many of the acupuncturists hold master’s degrees as well as post baccalaureate certificates from accredited by the acaom. Others are required to go through 1,5000-2,000 hours of training and this usually takes about 3-4 years.

 

Reflection: I will actually take this career into consideration.

Wellness Professional

Duties and Responsibilities: Wellness professionals work for schools, companies, and local government. Their job is to guide and train so that they can reach their fitness goals. They can help prevent any future health problems.

Salary: $55,000

Education: There really isn’t any specific because anybody can really have this profession. All that there is really needed is on the job training.

 


 

Reflection: I think that I will keep this career in mind because it sounds interesting.

This statement is true because as long as you do good and do your part well then there should be no problem. Honor comes from choosing the right even when it seems like the wrong. There will be times when choosing the right will feel really bad almost as if you were choosing the wrong but that’s when your will should be stronger and say that you won’t do it.

 

Orthodontist

Duties and Responsibilities:  An Orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in jaw alignment and moving teeth. He or she works with braces, head gear, etc.

Salary: $65,000 – $650,000

Education:  After dental school he or she must complete and additional 2 to 3 years of school at an accelerated school.

 

 

 
 
Reflection: This is a career that I will keep in mind.

Attitude

Definition: A settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.

Synonyms: View, viewpoint, outlook, perspective, stance, standpoint, position and inclination.

Examples: Talking bad, listening, and looking forward to something. Answering with a nice tone or bad tone. Being optimistic and thinking that everything is possible.

 

Periodontal

Duties and Responsibilities: Periodontal makes equipment used to treat a gum disease. Using prescriptions they find whatever works for the patient and helps them out. Once they know what is needed they will create it so that it has the perfect fit.

Salary: $88,000

Education: Many employers provide on the job training. Others may require for you to obtain an associate’s degree in dental laboratory technology.  

 


Reflection: I don’t think I would like to have this career because I wouldn’t want to look into people’s mouth.

This statement is true because when you’re around good people you will always do well, if you are around bad people then you will eventually be influenced to do wrong.  A good example would be going to a party, everybody will be drinking and so that you won’t feel left out then you will drink too. We should always do right even when nobody else is because that’s when it makes it more right.

Dental Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: A Dental Technician specializes in making useful devices for the teeth. They will help for any case and decides which device is better for you and your situation.  They do anything from teeth whitening to gum lifts.

Salary: $25,000 - $50,000

Education: Many laboratories hire people and train them so that they ca later work for them. They can also get the necessary training through a four year or two year program in educational programs.

 

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to be a dental technician because it doesn’t seem to catch my attention.

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities: An ENT specializes in diseases and disorders of ears, neck, and throat. They will diagnose any problem within these areas and provide treatment.

Salary: $180,000 - $230,000

Education: To become an ENT you must first obtain a bachelor’s degree, next medical school, after that it would be a residency, followed by a license to practice medicine, then get certified by the board.

 

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to have this career because it seems like you would have a lot of pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities: The job of a clinical manager is to make sure that the place where they work at runs smoothly without a problem.  They have to make sure they know what is going on and know what to buy and what not to buy and everything else money wise and help to patients they are the go to people.

Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is needed in any type of medical or health care administration.

 


Reflection: This is a career that I would keep in mind because it does interest me.

Speech Pathologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Speech pathologists help people improve their communication skills. They may work with children, stroke victims or people with dyslexia.  They usually work in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, or private practice.

Salary: $72,000

Education: To be a licensed speech pathologist you will need a master’s degree and preferably from any of the 253 programs approved by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. You would also be under supervised clinical experience.

 


Reflection: This is a career that I will keep in mind because it seems to interest me.

Sonographer (Ultrasound Technician)

Duties and Responsibilities: A sonographer projects or lets the physician know what’s going on inside the patient’s body. Their job includes using an instrument called transducer and it’s a big help for them as well. They are responsible for knowing the history of the patient and provide them with good care.

Salary: $78,000

Education: A student must have a high school diploma or GED. Then they must enroll in programs that provide the right training to get them started on their path towards an sonographer.

 

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to have this career because careers in the medical field don’t really interest me.

Social Worker

Duties and Responsibilities: Social workers work with underclass families to help them adjust to problems they may have. They also help the mentally ill and the homeless. They are the ones that deal with child abuse as well.

Salary: $20,000-$42,000

Education: A high school diploma or GED is needed to start on this career. Some programs may let you start once you have a bachelor’s degree and others will require you have a graduates degree.

 


Reflection: I don’t think I would like to be a social worker because I think I wouldn’t be able to make hard decisions when it came to my cases.

Environmental Health Specialist-Sanitarian

Duties and Responsibilities: Environmental Health Specialists enforce the governments’ rules and regulations. It is there job to advise their clients as well as improve the current conditions. They will take and analyze samples. They will develop informational programs and decide if something has to go to waste or not.

Salary: $25,000 - $50,000

Education: A high school diploma or GED is needed to start. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is needed in environmental health or environmental engineering.

 


Reflection: I don’t think that I would like to have this career because it doesn’t really seem to interest me.

X-Ray Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: An X-Ray Technician prepares patients so that they can be ready for radiologic procedures. Then they must get all the data needed and file the paper work. They should know what is needed in every different moment.

Education: A high school diploma or GED is needed. A student must pass a program to become a licensed X-Ray technician.               

 

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to have this career because it doesn’t catch my attention.

Radiologic Technologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Radiologic Technologists use x-ray, ultrasound machine, and scanners to help treat and diagnose injuries. They are responsible for talking to the patients and getting them prepared for what’s to come.

Salary: $24,000 - $36,000

Education: To be a registered radiologic technologist, you must complete a two year training program in a school or hospital.

 


Reflection: I don’t think I would like to be a radiologic technologist because I wouldn’t like that to be my career for the rest of my life.

Duties and Responsibilities: Radiation Therapists assist radiologists and onocologists in treating the patients’ diseases with exposure to Radiation. The also keep record of the patients.

Salary: $22,000 - $36,000

Education: A high school diploma or GED to enter a two year program. However, one year programs are offered by hospitals but you must need some type of training before that.

 


Reflection: I don’t think I would like to have this career because it doesn’t catch my attention.
